A deep study and analysis of the mythological, historical, and religious dimensions of Game of Thrones. The course will consider primordial and archetypal themes in myth and history, as well as examine the religious complexities in ancient and medieval history as they bear on the saga of Game of Thrones. Issues to be studied will be the mythical basis of history and ritual; Christian and pagan themes, including polytheism and monotheism; violence and sexuality; war and chivalry, among other issues.
